Message points but the main perspective that I have been eyeballing this thread from is a highly modified Z street driven and the idea of "sluggishness" doesn't appeal to me either. When I switched from the Labree Ultimate downpipes to the non-divorced 3 inch downpipe .. I picked up mucho top end but lost some of the killer midrange torque that I had . I imagine that once I retune I wil get some back ..

short story - I have been considering the leader gear setup and after reading this thread --I wonder if it is such a wise idea for my intended application at my power level. I don't desire to put leader gears on if it is going to

1) promote more wheel spin with the shorter / tighter gears
2) or induce the "sluggishness feel "

It seems to me that the main goal of any serious car enthusiast should be

a) max traction
b) big torque curve
c) fast revving engine with power that doesnt taper off near red line

It seems to me that maybe ( based on the power level and desired application / use ) racelogic traction control would be a better modification for a high rwhp Z than leader gears. If slippage is not a problem ( under 400rwhp maybe ?? ) perhaps the leader gears is the way to go ...

ofcourse, put a dragstip and M/T or hoosiers into the mix and you can throw all these ***assumptions*** out the door ..

thoughts / feedback ???
